Health and Safety at the House of CommonsClaim filed against the Governor General in Council and the Attorney General of Canada, declaring that they have breached the rights to life and security of the person, by failing to proclaim into force Part III of the Parliamentary Employment and Staff Relations Act thereby excluding Parliamentary employees from access to, and protections of occupational health and safety legislation... There was a pre-hearing on the file concerning the Employer's application to the Board to amalgamate seven (7) bargaining units into one (1). All four unions have requested that the employer provide more precise information and supply this information to them by August 31. The unions will meet to discuss the information received at the end of September. There will be a mediation session on October 6 and dates for the hearing have been set for November, January and February.
