Workers ratify new agreement after 86 days on strike
Workers from the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the War Museum have voted to accept the tentative settlement negotiated between the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation on December 15. Tentative agreement reached between the PSAC and the Museum Corporation
The PSAC bargaining team and the Museum Corporation team have reached a tentative agreement this morning. The PSAC members on strike are being given the details of the agreement. Returning to the negotiating table
John Gordon, the PSAC president met with the Victor Rabinovitch, the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation CEO, the Deputy Minister of Labour Canada and a Senior Official of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service on December 10. PSAC believe, as does the CMCC, that there is a basis to return to the negotiating table. The two parties will meet on Friday, December 11, 2009. Published on December 10, 2009.
The Labour Minister wants an arbitrator, the strikers have accepted arbitration: only the Museum management refuses arbitration

Minister James Moore was visited in Port Moody
Four National Component members - Executive Vice-President Doug Marshall, Vice-President of Human Rights Karoline Klug, Regional Vice-President Steve Houston, and BC NAPC member Marion McLarty held an information picket outside James Moores constituency office in Port Moody on December 4. They were there for two hours and asked for a meeting with the Minister. He was, of course, not available. Response from the public was good: the picketers handed out informational leaflets and urged people to contact their MP. Published on December 7, 2009.

MPs push Ambrose to send museum strike to arbitration
Liberal, Bloc and NDP members of parliament are urging labour minister Rona Ambrose to act to settle the 11 week old museum strike, like she settled a two day strike at CN.
"I think it is time to put pressure on the employer to agree to binding arbitration as the union has agreed to do," writes Minna. "In the CN strike you had pressured the union to agree to binding arbitration as the employer had agreed to." Published on December 4, 2009.
