The Men's Action Support Committee

Terms of Reference
NCR – Men's Action Support Committee
Established April, 2005 - Amended May 10, 2005 - Amended December 6, 2005

Name

The name of this committee shall be The Men's Action Support Committee.

The committee is committed to pursuing social justice issues from a union perspective in this community. To this end, it recognizes that affirmative action to correct historical injustices is not only heartily endorsed and embraced but must be understood by all. Further, sexism in any form will not be tolerated.

While the primary focus of the committee's activities may be on men and issues particular to men, meetings are open to all.

Aims and Objectives

The committee will:

- assist men to understand their issues and to find the support they need in times of crisis and distress.
- provide education to Alliance members and the general public on issues facing men in a changing society.

Organization and Structure

The committee will elect a chair and a co-chair at an annual meeting to be held prior to the Annual General Meeting or the Trienniel Convention of the NCR Regional Council. The chair, or the co-chair in their absence, will chair all meetings of the committee and represent it at all meetings of Council and/or the Alliance unless otherwise specifically decided at a meeting of the committee in session.

MASC elected its new Executive:

  • John Jedrasik has been named to the chair
  • Alex Sauvé has been named to the 2nd Chair and
  • Michel Tondreau has accepted the role of Secretary Treasurer

The Men's Action & Support Committee (MASC) invites you to a  BBQ at Brother Alex Sauve's home on August 24 at 5:00 pm.  It is located at 45 Pinehurst Ave, one block south of Scott Street and one block east of Parkdale Ave. We have invited both Women's Committees, chaired by June Dale and Louise Patrice as an outreach, and to get "Men and Women Talking" about how we relate, and how we can support each other in our goals. We also recognize that these groups do not act in isolation, and that we require the support and good will of the other PSAC committees in this region.
Since virtually all of your committees consist of men and/or women, your attendance would be apropos. The emphasis will be on fun and interaction. There is adequate provision should there be rain on that day, so please don't let that stop you from attending.
Contact John Jedrasik at 613-946-3783 to confirm attendance (members of your committee are invited), and to state your dietary requirements. Should you wish to make a small donation on behalf of your committee to help defray some of the food costs, it would be appreciated.

Minutes:

Upon request, the PSAC offers its publications in alternate format (large type, RTF format, etc). If you need any document on this website in one of these formats, contact our webmaster.
