The PSAC Health and Safety Committee in the National Capital Region is currently recruiting new members.

Its mandate is to contribute to the development of a culture promoting a healthy and safe working environment in the National Capital Region.

Upcoming challenges include contributing to the exchange of information on occupational health and safety in the fall of 2005, having a hand in some of the work to be done on the organization of the next Union School scheduled for November 2005, participating in the organization of the next regional occupational health and safety conference to be held on January 29 and 30, 2006 and other rewarding activities.

Please note that the next committee meetings have been set for June 21, 2005 at 5 p.m. at the Gatineau Regional Office at 200 Promenade du Portage and on September 13, 2005 at 5 p.m. at the Ottawa Regional Office at 15 Holland Avenue in Ottawa. Since light meals are usually provided at these meetings, it is important that you confirm beforehand that you will be attending.

The committee does have a budget and consists of members committed to occupational health and safety. To join the committee, all you have to do is send an e-mail indicating your interest to lavoied@psac.com with your contact information. For more information, the Committee Chair, Barbara Stewart, can be reached at 598-2224 or you can call Dominic Lavoie, Regional Representative, Occupational Health and Safety, at 777-4647.

Prevention is front and centre for all of us!

Barbara Stewart
Chairperson
PSAC NCR Health and Safety Committee
