Sisters Marie-Francoise Bertrand, Shirley Taylor, Joanne Gosselin, Francine Stuart, Louise Patrice and Lisa Rossignol took part in the Social Alliance demonstration which took place on March 12, 2011 in Montreal for an equitable budget for all. More than 50 000 answered the call to express their opposition to the downsizing and the privatization of public services. They demanded a radical change in budgetary matters by the Charest Government.


 

International Women’s Day

Le comité régional des femmes francophones de la RCN (CRFF-RCN) in partnership with the Conseil régional FTQ-Outaouais celebrated International Women’s Day on Monday March 7th with a Wine and Cheese reception. In the photograph are Sister Francine Stuart, Vice-president of Women’s Issues-FTQ, Brother Réjean D’Aoust, Union Counselling Program Coordinator-FTQ and Sister Louise Patrice, CRFF-RCN President.

PSAC and FTQ trade union members, colleagues from women and community groups as well as several politicians joined the festivities to discuss women’s issues.

The World Women March

Thousands of women took a stand, October 18 2010, to the big national gathering of the world-wide Market of the women to Rimouski. The World Women March is a movement that rallies 4500 groups of women through 151 countries. An important gathering unfolded itself equally to Bukavu in democratic Republic of Congo. The National Capital Region proudly was represented by counterparts of the Regional Francophone Women's Committee.


The Committee

The Regional Francophone Women's Committee (RFWC) is made up of women who are members of various Locals belonging to various Components of the Public Service Alliance of Canada in the National Capital Region.

The committee mandate is to provide a forum where women can discuss and act on various issues of importance to women. The committee deals with both regional and national issues and is actively involved in regional and national coalitions.

The committee meetings are held in French, on the forth Tuesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. for a light supper, meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at the PSAC Gatineau Regional Office, Place du Centre, 200 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau.

All the PSAC women are invited to attend the committee's regular meetings, as well as the activities organized or supported by the committee.

Stephen Harper assault on pay equity

"Nous sommes un groupe de femmes qui souhaitons sensibiliser la population aux attaques du gouvernement conservateur de Stephen Harper à l'équité salariale à la fonction publique du Canada."

This letter was published in Le Droit in March 2010 (French).

Case of excommunication

"Il y a plus de deux semaines nous avons entendu parler de l’excommunication de la mère d’une fillette brésilienne et de l’équipe médicale dirigée par Dom José Cardoso Sobrinho, l'archevêque de Recife, au nord-estdu Brésil, suite à l’avortement de la-dite fillette, qui avait été agressée par son beau-père."

The Conservatives and youth offenders

"Je prends la parole aujourd'hui pour unir ma voix à celle de Luc Cadieux, des Centres jeunesse Outaouais, et à celle de l'Association des centres jeunesse du Québec. Je suis totalement contre le durcissement de la loi sur les jeunes contrevenants préconisé par le gouvernement conservateur."
