That is why the Conseil régional d'action politique de l'Outaouais (CRAPO) of the PSAC has gotten actively involved in this campaign. CRAPO consists of PSAC members like you who are constantly committed to political action. The CRAPO executive consists of Daniel Charron, President; François Brochu, Secretary; Francine Stuart, Vice-President; Gilles Masse, Vice-President; and Jacques Marengère, Treasurer.
On your behalf, CRAPO met with candidates from the Bloc Québécois, the New Democratic Party, the Conservative Party, the Liberal Party and the Green Party to ask them what their positions were on numerous issues affecting the federal Public Service and other matters of interest:
- Whistleblowing legislation in the Public Service
- Distribution of Public Service jobs between the Ontario and Quebec sides of the river and maintaining government jobs in the National Capital Region
- Working in French in the Public Service
- Federal anti-scab legislation
- The Public Service pension fund surplus
- Working conditions in the government, health and safety
- Contacting out, privatization and precarious work
- Transportation problems between the Quebec and Ontario sides of the river
In addition, we will hold a debate between the representatives of the five major parties on January 11 – for details of this debate, click here. All of this work will give us a chance to evaluate the candidates objectively and to recommend to you which ones, in our estimation, are best able to represent the interests of PSAC members in each of the four Outaouais ridings.
If you would like to know how the candidates answered the questions we asked them, click here. To find out which ones we would like to support, come back on this site on January 17.
We invite you to vote on January 23 for the candidate who will best defend your interests. On January 23, make your voices heard!
