The Importance of Communications in our Union
Time after time, we have come to realize that good communications are paramount to mobilizing the membership in our union.
As many of our large units head into negotiations in 2007, we need to improve our ability to communicate with our membership. Recent changes to the Public Service Labour Relations Act (PSLRA) will allow our employers to communicate directly to our members during sensitive times during the negotiations process. We have to be ready to counter their messages effectively and on a timely basis.
We don't need more communication, we need better communication.
We are attempting to breathe new life into the Communications Committee of the NCR Regional Council. If you or a member of your local has good communication skills such as writing, editing, reporting, web based talents and the like, please feel free to come out to our next meeting:
Tuesday, March 13 2007
17:00
PSAC Regional Office,
15 Holland Avenue , Ottawa
(two doors to the right of 11 Holland )
A light supper will be served to those who confirm their attendance in advance. Elections for Chair and Secretary will be held.
Not able to attend but still interested nonetheless? Let us know and we will notify you directly of the next meeting of our group.
For more information about the Communications Committee, please contact Angèle Cadieux at cadieua@psac-afpc.com (e-mail) or at (819) 777-4647.

What the heck does CRAPO stand for? On January
10, 2005 the Conseil régional d'action politique de l'Outaouais
held their inaugural meeting.
Sensing a need for more political action in their communities
a group of members from the Outaouais decided to create the
CRAPO. Like the Ottawa Action Committee their goal is to create
a forum through which issues of importance to our members can
be raised at the municipal, provincial and federal levels and
to allow members to be politically active in the community in
which they live.
