Mandate of the Health & Safety Committee
TERMS OF REFERENCE
MANDATE
The overall mandate of the committee is to promote health & safety awareness and activism in this region.
Specific objectives of the committee are:
- To promote health and safety training;
- To assess the health & safety needs of locals;
- To find ways to meet these needs;
- To encourage networking among locals on health & safety issues;
- To keep current on new health & safety issues and develop action plans to deal with them;
- To ensure that the NCRC is aware of current health & safety issues.
COMPOSITION OF THE COMMITTEE
The chairperson will be responsible for liaising with the Council Executive.
The REVP or delegated NCRC Executive member shall be an ex-officio member of the committee.
The committee shall consist of 5 members at least one of whom should be an Alliance Facilitator with experience in giving health & safety courses.
To the extent possible, the committee should contain members who work in Québec and who work in Ontario.
To the extent possible, the committee should contain members from separate employer locals as well as TB locals.
The rationale for both of these conditions is that changing the province of work and the employer changes the legislation that applies to the workplace.
