A majority of workers have to sign their membership cards before the PSAC can apply to represent you. | |

The Ontario Labour Relations Act, 1995 states that there must be at least 40 % of the workers who sign their union cards before a votet c an be held. Once the union decides they have met this requirement, they can apply for certification with the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB). | |

If the OLRB rules that enough workers have signed their cards, a vote is ordered to be held within 5 days after the application for certification was made by the PSAC. |

A representation vote is held at the workplace. There must be a 50% + 1 majority who sign in favour of joining the union. |

The OLRB counts the ballots. | |

The OLRB announces the results of the vote and whether or not union certification is obtained. | |
